Over 40 Years of Bluegrass

The Lonesome River Band is a contemporary bluegrass group from Meadows of Dan, Virginia, formed in 1982. Since then, they have released 15 recording projects. Band leader Sammy Shelor is a five-time recipient of the International Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year Award and a member of the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame. Over the years, the band has undergone several personnel changes, and it has yet to include an original member since Tim Austin’s departure in 1995 to focus on Doobie Shea Records.
