Having been a board member for the European World Of Bluegrass foundation for about 8 years, an MC for the EWOB festival since 2013 and a country and bluegrass radio broadcaster since 2011, Jos van der Lelie is firmly rooted in the European bluegrass scene.
It all started growing up as a teenager, listening to his father’s record collection. And although that was very diverse, with records from genres like jazz and pop to French Chansons and German Schlagers, the country albums attracted his attention most. In his late teens Jos discovered bluegrass music, as one program on Dutch national radio played both country and bluegrass. He fell in love and never parted since!
Jos got involved with internet bluegrass radio broadcasting in 2011 and from 2016 he also is a presenter for Countryland, a country and bluegrass show on Dutch radio, where, among others, he works alongside the very same presenter who introduced him to bluegrass music in the forementioned radio show he listened to in the 1980s!
Jos loves to explore music beyond the traditional bluegrass boundaries, wherever these boundaries may lay, and mix in progressive tunes, Celtic, folk, traditional country and any other sound, as long as it has some connection to the music all of us with The Bluegrass Jamboree love so much. This results in a three hour journey, every Friday on The Bluegrass Jamboree, taking you to all corners of the world with a playlist as diverse as you can get.
Jos lives in Almere, The Netherlands, and works as a maths teacher at a local secondary school.
